How to Choose an RF Online Private Server
A practical checklist for picking an RF Online private server: version, level cap, rates, PvP style, region, cash shop and real player activity.

1. Pick a client version
Most RF Online private servers run the 2.2.3.2 client, with 2.2.3 close behind. These classic versions are what most veterans remember.
If you want newer systems and content, look at Update 4.x servers running clients such as 4.15, 4.55 or 4.75. For pure nostalgia, a few servers still run Episode 2.
2. Decide on a level cap
The level cap sets how long progression lasts and which content exists. Cap 50 and Cap 55 servers are short and PvP-focused; Cap 55 includes the level 50–55 unseal quest chain.
Cap 60 and Cap 65 servers extend classic progression, while Cap 80+ servers are usually on 4.x clients or heavily customised.
3. Choose your rates
Rates multiply retail RF Online. Low-rate servers are a long-term commitment; high-rate servers get you into PvP fast. See RF Online server rates explained for what each rate controls.
| Tier | EXP rate | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Low rate | x1 – x5 | Retail-like progression, stable economy |
| Mid rate | x6 – x150 | The most popular pace: less grind, progression still matters |
| High rate | x151 – x999 | Reaching cap in days, focusing on gear and PvP |
| Super high rate | x1000+ | Instant or near-instant cap, PvP from day one |
4. PvP, semi-PvP or PvE
RF Online is built around three-race war between the Bellato, Cora and Accretia. PvP servers put Chip War and Race War at the centre, semi-PvP servers mix in more PvE, and PvE servers suit solo players and anyone learning the game.
5. Check region and language
Ping matters in RF Online PvP. Pick a server hosted near you, such as Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, South America or Russia / CIS, and check that the community speaks a language you do.
6. Make sure the server is actually active
A server is only as good as its population. Every listing on RF Servers shows how many members are online on the server's Discord right now, which is much harder to fake than a vote count.
Also check how long the server has been running and when it last wiped. New servers are the best time to join, because everyone starts at level 1.
7. Read the cash shop rules
Private servers fund themselves through donations. Look for servers that state their shop is cosmetic or convenience only. RF Servers tags these as no pay-to-win, but it is the owner's claim, so ask on Discord if you are unsure.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best RF Online private server?
- It depends on the version, rates and play style you want. The RF Servers list ranks servers by live Discord activity, so the most active servers for each version and rate are always near the top.
- Are RF Online private servers free?
- Yes, private servers are free to play. Most fund themselves through an optional cash shop, which is why it is worth checking whether a server is pay-to-win.
