RF Online Drop Rates Explained: How Monster Loot Works
How RF Online monsters decide what to drop: drop groups, rolls and per-item chances, with a real example and how to find the best monster for any item.

Drop groups and rolls
An RF Online monster doesn't roll for each item separately. Its loot is split into drop groups. Each group has a chance per roll, a number of rolls and a list of items. Every time a roll succeeds, the monster drops one item picked from that group.
So the chance of a specific item is roughly the group's chance per roll, times the number of rolls, divided by the number of items in the group. A group with many items spreads its chance thin, even when the group itself drops often.
A real example
Here is the drop table of a low-level monster from the 2.2.3.2 server files, at the base rate. The last column is the chance for any one item in the group.
| Drop group | Chance per roll | Rolls | Items in group | Chance for one item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Group 1 | 70% | 2 | 5 | 28% |
| Group 2 | 10.0% | 1 | 10 | 1.0% |
| Group 3 | 8.0% | 1 | 1 | 8.0% |
| Group 4 | 0.010% | 1 | 140 | 0.000071% |
| Group 5 | 0.010% | 1 | 69 | 0.00014% |
| Group 6 | 0.010% | 1 | 70 | 0.00014% |

How server drop rates change this
The chances in our database are the base server values. A private server's drop rate setting raises them, so an x5 drop server makes the same loot much more common. See RF Online server rates explained for how rates work.
Find the best monster for an item
Every item page in the RF Online item database lists the monsters that drop it, best chance first, and every monster page lists its full drop table. For crafting materials, the crafting guide lists the best monsters for the most-used ones.
